Association Activity : The mission of the Ohio Mountain Bike Association (OMBA) is:

To protect, create, and enhance quality trail experiences for mountain bikers in Ohio. In addition, we actively promote responsible mountain biking, support volunteer trailwork, assist land managers with trail management issues, and improve relations among trail user groups.

The Ohio Mountain Bike Association is a statewide 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with local chapters throughout the state of Ohio. We are affiliated with the International Mountain Bicylcling Association (IMBA).

A unified voice for mountain biking in Ohio

The Ohio Mountain Bike Association speaks on the behalf of our members throughout state of Ohio to promote our mission at the state wide level. By combining the resources, knowledge, and past experience of our local chapters, our voice is much greater than if each local group remained completely independent.

Local presence

OMBA chapters are located throughout the state and consist of the following groups:

-Appalachian Outdoor Adventures (AOA): Zanesville Area
-Central Ohio Mountain Bike Organization (COMBO): Columbus Area
-Cincinnati Off Road Alliance (CORA): Cincinnati Area
-Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA): Northeast Ohio including Cleveland, Arkon, Canton, and Youngstown
-Miami Valley Mountain Bike Association (MVMBA): Dayton Area
-Mohican Malabar Mountain Bike Association (MOMBA): Mohican/Loudonville Area

The structure of the Ohio Mountain Bike Association allows our local chapters to maintain their own leadership, identity, and funds. Though each chapter may act autonomously, they must abide by the bylaws of the Ohio Mountain Biking Association and continuously meet the OMBA Chapter Requirements to remain an active chapter.

Local chapters receive majority of contributions

When you join the Ohio Mountain Bike Association, you specify your local chapter. Based on your choice, your money will be deposited into your chapter’s account. A fee will be taken off the top by OMBA to cover things like processing, postage, and shared expenses.

Sharing where it makes sense

OMBA believes it makes sense to share certain aspects of running a non-profit organization. These include membership processing and tracking, internet presence, financial tracking, and 501(c)(3) non-profit status.

OMBA is a 501(c)(3) charitable, tax-exempt organization

The Ohio Mountain Bike Association is an IRS 501(c)(3) charitable, tax-exempt organization. Any chapter can accept donations and the donor can claim a tax deduction. Additionally, OMBA and its chapters are eligible for a wide variety of public and private grants.

New OMBA Chapters

The decision to add new chapters to OMBA is made by the OMBA Board of Directors. In most cases, new chapters will only be considered if they will serve a part of the state of Ohio that is not currently represented by an existing OMBA chapter.
